This was a fun adventure from start to finish! I’ll absolutely be reading more from T.J. Klune!

Readers like me are going to be coming from The House in the Cerulean Sea and looking for Klune’s earlier books. This is *not* THitCS. The characters are likable and the world building is clever, but there is CONSTANT sex talk (but only one explicit scene). The characters are more horny than they ever are in danger. While fun at first, it quickly drags the 400+ pages to a halt as you wish the characters would find a quick release so they could get it out of their system and stop getting in the way of the plot. Klune’s more recent books have a Pixar-level thoughtfulness and sweetness to them. This was more like Jersey Shore (but with likable people) set in a fantasy world.

It's probably the best queer fantasy I have read. The writing is fast paced and the characters are endearing. The plot revolves mainly around the relationships of the characters as friends, family and lovers. Worth a read if you want more queerness in your life (and who doesn't)

Oh my gods, this audiobook was to die for! I loved the story and the narration so, so much. Michael Lesley really brought to life all of T.J. Klune's wonderfully crazy characters and made this a listening experience unlike any other I've had yet. It was funny and completely OTT and I loved every minute of it. 4.5 stars.

This book is completely absurd. I had to be in the mood for things like sassy unicorns who shed glitter when angry (spoiler: Gary the unicorn is *not* the character awarded the title "God of Sass") and phrases like "heart boner"... but when I WAS, I enjoyed it immensely. And I laughed my ass off.
If you're looking for a M/M romance with wizards, dragons, and really really terrible jokes - here you go. If plot is really important to you, or careful fantasy worldbuilding... tread carefully.

5 OMFG Stars!!

What the hell was that??? Seriously???

There really isn’t much to say since it's already been said.

Do you want to laugh? Do you want to have fun? Do you want grand adventure and swoony romance, all the while having the time of your life?

If you haven’t already subscribed to Klune’s brand of humor, then please sign up right here.

This was a mile a minute of snark, banter, and glee, as it delivered so much on all the things I love in a fantasy romantic comedy; things I didn’t even know I wanted or needed. Every character - main and supporting, small and large - brought their own very special crazy that only exponentially increased the enjoyment factor. (I'm definitely a Tiggy girl!) Though this obviously doesn’t take itself too seriously, it still has plenty of heart - there’s definitely no shortage on the feels.

I had my doubts (yeah, I know I shouldn’t’ve) but the genius here is truly impressive. I’ve never been so thoroughly entertained!!
