This. This is what I want from het contemporary romance. All angst makes sense, the damage makes sense, the reactions make sense. It's not only the internal consistency, it is consistent with real life (except the self-made billionaire parts). This is how real people with trauma can react. Particularly the self-sabotage. I was rooting for him to get his shit together and I was cheering her on for being willing to take the risk, but not being willing to settle. I will definitely be reading more by this author.

I got drawn into The Brash Brothers series thanks to an Insta or Facebook ad —thanks targeted ads for knowing exactly who I am as a person.

I really enjoyed this series opener—you get a brief glimpse at some of our future main characters and the highlights of what’s going to make them great. I’m seriously dying for Jonas’ story and I think Nick is going to be so fun.

Becca—the FMC is an absolute badass, but we meet her when she’s a smidge down on her luck. This doesn’t diminish her shine or completely independent personality. Our hero Kade also stumbles upon Becca when she’s having like the third worst day of her life. That’s a real shame because Kade loved a project in a romantic partner and is actively trying to avoid repeating these mistakes. He can’t seem but try to help, Becca isn’t his usual damsel in distress—she’ll be fine with or without Kade and we’re going to watch him struggle through what that means for him in a healthy relationship.

This was a quick romance with some spicy scenes. It sets up for sequels, and I really like the fact that there were no love triangles. Becca was a strong, capable female lead. I mostly struggled with some of the writing choices. For example, it felt like the f-word was thrown in when it didn’t add much. Then, when Becca called Kade “dude” in a scene that’s supposed to be romantic, I had a hard time maintaining suspension of disbelief. Overall, I’d recommend it for people who’d enjoy an x-rated lifetime/hallmark story. There are several sequels on kindle, so I’ll likely tune in to see how a few of the Brash brothers turn out.

This is my first book by this author. I liked it. It was funny, but the story behind his family was sad. It drew me in and I wanted to know more. This was light on the spiciness, but I didn’t mind because their back stories were so interesting.

This didn't have the spice I was looking for but it was really good and a great intro to a new "found family" series, which I love.
