Emma. Emma, Emma, Emma. So well-meaning but so self-absorbed and dense. Sigh. I think I actually liked this book better than Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice. The only thing that put a damper on it was the fact that I had seen the movie before so I knew what to expect. But I felt like the character development and scenery descriptions were SO much better than the other two Austen novels I read. A few times throughout the book I wanted to smack Emma for being such a dumbass, but you couldn't help but love her in spite of her faults. And Mr. Knightley, I almost started crying when he was expressing his feelings to Emma. Hated the Eltons. Mr. Woodhouse cracked me up. Mr. Churchill seemed to me to be Emma's male counterpart, equally vain and silly. I think I need to stop reading Austen for a while, she is causing me to be uber sappy. Great book though. I find myself dying to know what happened to the characters after the novel ended.

Emma FRUSTRATES me! Thank God for Mr Knightley - but really he could have done better than Emma!

Honestly don’t know why it took me forever to finish this book. Jane Austen’s writing is amazing.

My favourite Austen novel…
Something about this story just captures me, be it the original book, the 2020 adaptation or even Clueless!
