I read this in 9th grade and it wasn’t my type of book. After all, Shakespeare is hard to comprehend. I think out of Shakespeare’s category of fantastic works, Romeo and Juliet is more on the basic side as the story is much less complex than say, Hamlet. But it is a classic that I somewhat enjoyed. Romeo and Juliet are also so so impulsive and just weirdos for each other.

Right so don’t get me wrong, Shakespeare is great! But this sucks. It’s got some beautiful soliloquies and sonnets. The use of foreshadowing is brilliant too! But the plot is just bad. It’s a 3 day relationship that rushed into marriage so they could have sex which caused the deaths of so many people. I just wish the plot was as good as the techniques used to write it.
