Probably would have had more of an effect on me if I was in my 30s and childless. It was reflective in a way but I frankly feel like Olive came across as a bit of a bitch and could've been written to be a bit of a more likeable character since this book seems to be trying to promote how it is okay not to want children.

This is basically a story developed around the different perspectives of women's relationship to motherhood. It gave me a lot to think about in terms of our choices, pressure from society, and fertility issues. What I liked - was the different perspectives and honest, if not uncomfortable, opinions of many women when it comes to having children (whether by blood or love) or not. What I didn't like - I didn't feel like the characters were fleshed out, not even the protagonist. I felt that she was a carbon-copy British fictional female main character. Also, the trope of a gay best friend who is only there to support the protagonist in a one-sided relationship is a bit old. But overall, I'm glad I read this book; it gave me a lot to think about.

Read this in a week, so think that says it all! Was a great read, was very interesting to read and you really start to love the characters. Only issue was now and then you feel angry at the choices the characters make but that's part of the story.

Amazing book, would definitely recommend!

Felt really disappointed with the execution of the story possibility. When I first picked up the book and saw it was about a young lady who was choosing not to have children I was so pleased to see some representation of someone who shared the same opinions as me but this could t be further from the truth.

I share no resemblance to the main character Olive like I first thought. It seems she is annoyed at her friends for choosing to have children because she doesn't want them herself.

I LOVED this book! After reading a book I really didn’t enjoy I picked this up on a whim and I’m so glad I did. I have often struggled with friendships falling apart due to people just going in different directions and it was so comforting to read something like Olive. I love Olive so so much and, even though I do want children in the future, I feel like I can really resonate with her

To begin with I was a bit disappointed that she got into a relationship in the end? I think at that point I thought it was all about being independent and that being okay? But now i realise that it happened when Olive least expected i’d and the idea is that we all reach stages of our lives and THAT is what matters as long as it’s what the person wants.

I would have loved a little bit more about Olive’s relationship with the kids, especially Caitlin. I feel like her eating disorder was glossed over a little bit and I feel like with such a big topic like that it’s not something you can gloss over? But I understand the reasons why!!
