A fun diversion. Terry Pratchett is always a good bet. This is a comparison of discworld and real-world folklore done in a tongue-in-cheek fashion. It's quite informative and contains relevant quotes from discworld books.

If you're a fan and are looking for a gentle, humorous read to fill in-between books then this is ideal.

I try every few years but I have never been able to fall in love with Terry Pratchett's writing. It is either too much like other stuff I've read or to ridiculous to get engrossed in the story line. This backstore-mythology collection was like that. I will give him props for his creativity but I need more to my fiction than what Pratchett can offer. For die hard fan of Pratchetts, you will love this extra information on an already famous and thorougly discovered DiscWorld. For all others try Jasper Fforde if you want ridiculous, laugh out loud literature with substance or even Piers Anthony's sexists works. Both are far superior to this jumble of thoughts.

This is a fun mix of real folklore and the made up folklore of the Discworld. A fascinating read for anyone who is a Discworld fan or interested in folklore in general.

A superb companion to Sir! Terry's incomparable Discworld series. If you ever wondered about the mythic parallels drawn between Discworld and our world; if you're just a folklore buff and enjoy reading up about beasties, odd traditions, and historical flights of fancies: this is the book for you. Now expanded to include the events of Raising Steam, it's well worth the read.
