I really wanted to like this book.
I was looking for an epic sci-fi series to get into but the writing is not for me at all.
It's way to flowery and distracted from the entire story.

My Rating - 3.5 / 5

I have a very mixed feeling about this book the first 50% of the book is very boring in the plain sense if I had to rate based on this it would be 1.5 stars for me , but the later half of the book and the episodes with cielcein awed my expectations for this book and propelled it to 3.5 stars

But I will give Hadrian Marleow yet an another chance (book) to tell his story.

I haven't read much SciFi as its not really for me but I am very glad I liked this one. The beginning of the book feels a lot like Dune with great houses, an emperor, mentat like people, technology controlled by one group and a main character that feels a little like Paul Atreides. It has heavy roman influence and feels more fantasy set in space like Star Wars rather than Sci-fi itself.

I did find this book a little weak as it seems the whole book is set up for the very cool stuff that I am very certain is coming.

Even though this dragged for me more than I liked, I really enjoyed the world-building. If Hadrian (the MC) was so frustrating I would probably continue the series. He’s a hard character to enjoy. Overall would still recommend this for sci-fi lovers with caution. It’s a big commitment but maybe others will enjoy the long-winded story more than I did.
