A chilling and eerily prescient read. Huxley’s vision of a perfectly engineered society feels both sterile and sinister. The scariest part is how plausible it still feels. It’s not a page turner, but it lingers with you in uncomfortable, important ways.
Woah. Finished this book with Socrates’ city of speech, Tocqueville’s soft tyranny, Bacon’s utopia, and the Tempest swirling around me. I always read books at just the right time but this was the cherry on top of a bunch of thoughts on the construction of a good society and what it means to be human.

Re-read for the first time since my A-Levels. I have to say it is really not as good as I remembered it being. It remains the book that encouraged me to go to university, but has fallen a long way out of my top 10 list.
