3,75 ⭐️ Honnêtement je ne m’attendais pas à être autant surprise par ce récit ! Je n’ai pas adoré ce livre outre mesure mais j’ai malgré tout passé un très bon moment de lecture tant j’ai trouvé que l’auteur excellait dans sa narration. Rien n’est particulièrement agréable à lire, les personnages ne sont aucunement attachants, et pourtant tout nous interpelle, nous maintient accrochés, entre dégoût et fascination pour cette société et ses citoyens si étranges.
C’est prenant, très bien écrit, parfaitement bien exécuté, et sans même apprécier ce qu’on lit, on a envie de poursuivre, de lire la suite, tant l’ambiance presque dérangeante insufflée par l’auteur interpelle et intrigue.
Après j’avoue que tout le milieu de récit, au Nouveau-Mexique puis avec le retour de John, le « sauvage », m’a un peu agacée et nuit à mon sens à l’ensemble du livre. Je comprends qu’il puisse être intéressant, mais bon les crises existentielles bizarres de John ça va deux minutes quoi

Lugedes jättis palju parema mulje kui kuulates. Võiks öelda, et väga natuke jäi puudu "mulle väga meeldis" hinnangust. Kahjuks raamatu lõpp vajus natuke ära, sest ilmselt ma ei suuda religiooni olulisusega samastuda. Seetõttu tundus lõpus olukord liiga ekstreemseks minevat.
Hoolimata sellest väga nauditav lugemine oli.

Far and away my favorite dystopian novel. Starting with the dystopian horrors of genetic engineering and ending with a scathing rebuff of both future and modern civilization, this story strikes the balance between engaging story and harsh warning perfectly. It's settling on the importance of struggle and effort is not only incredibly prescient, but serves a stark warning to complacency in a life meant only to satisfy and never to nourish.

"The more stitches the less riches" as people wait hours whether night or rain tot get their hands on the latest Stanley cups collab. "Ending is better than mending" as shiploads of shein and temu and other fast fashion clothing brands get delivered to already overflowing landfills. "Everyone belongs to everyone else" as men who won't go to therapy or work on themselves committ yet another sex crime against women or post another tiktok or tweet about how women think their better than enybody else and will die alone of they don't spread their legs for a man who wouldn't even committ to a relationship, or hates women. Or if women don't spread their legs to bear children, because why else would they be in a relationship, a marriage for? Who else would take care of them when they hit old age? "Everyone works for everyone" as corporations work people to death without paying them so much a cent towards their pension, healthcare, family or livable wages.
