The interesting part of this book is the first 85 pages, which is a history of abstract art from its beginnings to 1956, told by an actual abstract painter, who knew and/or met some of the players. The dictionary proper is not of painting but of painters, quarter-page snippets on each of hundreds. Wikipedia is better.
