this was interesting in ways I didn't expect. Ajos needed a hug, and someone to love him. The poor dude tortured himself thinking everything in the past was his own fault. And he fought hard against himself to give Karena all the choices. She was exactly what he needed. And on top of the romance I found the story line with the rebels interesting and am curious to see where it goes. Though a bit more background knowledge on the world and the start of said rebellion would be great. It was book 1 of a series so I figured I would get all relevant info and I did I just wish I knew more.

I liked the book, but I am bilingual and Ajo is garlic in Spanish. In my head I keep seeing garlic as the hero. Made me hungry, lol.

3.5 stars. This is another fun alien romance. There are definitely some unrealistic aspects here that go beyond the fact that we are on an alien planet and the other wish-fulfillment aspects of being lifelong mates with someone you’ve just met. Like, going on an expedition in a dress and thinking there’s no danger when they’re in the middle of a war. And doing work in a lab with your hazmat suit on but no constraints on who else is able to come into the lab. There is not a lot of character development but the characters are interesting and the story is good enough. Likable, fun. But not a lot of depth.

This series (yes, I know this is the second series but it feels like the same one) keeps getting better and better! I loved the new dynamics of this book, the different feel. I hecking loved the space travel and the new planet!
It was so good! And I’m so looking forward to reading whatever comes next!

Someone wise once said, “You are only one decision away from a totally different life,” and somehow, as she ran, that thought echoed in her head.

Fun sci-fi alien romance! *And as I just discovered a spin off to the [b:Riv's Sanctuary|55057761|Riv's Sanctuary (Riv’s Sanctuary, #1)|A.G. Wilde|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1598050977l/55057761._SY75_.jpg|85851289] series.

Looking forward to any new upcoming alien x human pairings + learning a bit more about the Restitution's plans.
