3.5 stars. This was fun! Very cozy-mystery vibes. It was a nice read. I guessed the twist from pretty much the beginning, but there were a few moments that took me by surprise. I didn't really like the characters, and I've heard it compared to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, but that book is way better than this, in my oppinion. Honestly, I think that mystery just isn't my fav genre, and so I can judge the books a little more harshly. I'm just a bit underwhelmed, I guess. But also, it was still a really fun book that I enjoyed reading! The perfect Fall read.

I got this intending it to be a gift for Avery, and might still give it it her along with an Agatha Christie novel, just because reading this book would still be better than reading no book at all.
I don’t read much YA at all so I’m not sure how much of my disappointment with the book was actual sloppiness with the story or just the reading level. The characters were hateful (maybe that’s just how teenagers are?)
The Agatha Christie angle - which was the entire reason I got the book and could have been a lot of fun - was treated like the product advertisements in The Truman Show. It felt gimmicky.
The mystery itself was okay, but the teens collaborating so much with the lawyer made the entire thing so obviously fictional that sometimes it felt like the authors wrote the book as a joke.
