It's dated, but there are some very touching human moments, and I quite literally laughed out loud during one scene. It's an angry fist of a story being waved in the face of injustice. it is an imperfect book, but it is passionate, and that's what makes it worth reading
this is a really cool coming of age novel and it’s objectively awesome that something like this book exists. the narrator was unlikeable in a way that was teetering between endearing and insufferable the whole time but was still interesting and dynamic nonetheless. this is one that I definitely can see being really important at the time and also still having its place as formative lesbian literature but I can’t deny that some of it aged kinda poorly and is just very much reflective of its time in queer history— both the good and the bad parts. I think I would’ve had overall more positive feelings had it not been for the very end (look up trigger warnings before reading) but regardless, I can respect this novel for the paving stone that it is/was for so many of the nuanced lesbian stories we are blessed with today. definitely glad to have picked this one up!

I admire Mollys courage of her convictions. It’s aspirational
Despite the fact that Molly's character is, maybe, a little implausible in terms of her unwavering resiliency to outside forces, this book is difficult not to love. Incredible when analyzed through a feminist/GLBTQ lens.
