Reviewing the book in isolation, I didn't love it and didn't hate it. It's just like every other coming-of-age novel, but it is special since it was written in the 1970s. Considering that, it's incredibly special and probably another one that I can add to the list of: "I wish I had read this as a young teenager".  I enjoyed Molly's disdain for men, and how she always had an unapologetic attraction to women. I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator's voice annoyed me, hence 3 stars.

Enjoyable read. I see why it's a classic. Definitely "of its time" and a bit self-congratulatory but a valuable brick in the wall of classic queer lit.
