This book wasn’t for me. I found it pretty boring, with a lot of missed opportunities for a fun story line. Very little happened in this book. When story finally came along, all the struggle came way too easily for the main characters. Everything was told to the audience, very little was shown.
I wish more was explored with Jenn’s grey ace identity and the loss of her friend. She didn’t have any character arc, no valuable lesson or flaw fixed.
This book would have worked a lot better as a period piece from the late 90s or early 2000s. The group chats were a lot more like y2k aol chat rooms, not an actual group chat. The representation of cons was very inaccurate and dated, and really boring.
The best parts of this book were Tam talking about outer space and the intergalactic union.

I LOVE alien romance so I thought I would. Love this book. Overall the book felt a little long. There was a lot of conversation around consent with even the most simple ideas. I felt like it took away from the story on some part. I would still recommend to others as I feel like people who like cosplay and conventions would like this book!

Honestly I ran to start this as I am in such a Superman phase at the moment and boy this did not disappoint. I was craving an alien romance and this was exactly that and more, I adored the nerdy nature of this as well as how emotional the friendships in it was. Jen and Tam were made for each other. I especially thought it was fun that this Alien romance actually took place on Earth rather than off planet which was a nice twist. I will definitely pick up another of Aquirre's books.
