I enjoy the set up so much--online friends gather to meet in person, surprises occur. I also love how much care the friends take with one another, but I wish it was explained in a bit less detail.

I think I was expecting a little more Strange Love
funny hopeful medium-paced

Sadly, I was very disappointed in this book, especially since I so adored Strange Love and enjoyed its sequel, Renegade Love. Here the characters, plot, and relationships were all undeveloped, the dialogue was awkward and cringey, and the whole book, sorry to say, read like a teen fanfic or something that was quickly cranked out on a deadline. I'm hoping Aguirre finds her footing again because she's shown us she can do so much better than this.

Jennette has never really fit in, she loves anything to do with space, and especially the chance that aliens exist. She has found herself a small group online that proves to her there are people like her out there, and she has convinced them to attend SpaceCon in Utah with her for a whole week. The one she is most excited to meet is Seeker, someone she has had a crush on for a while, and is pretty sure they have feeling for her as well.

Tamzir goes by Seeker online, he is a being from another plant who got stranded almost a year ago when he was exploring Earth on a holiday and his ride off-world never showed up. He has been trying to get home ever since and figures a detour with some online friends might be fun while he continues to try getting back home.

I honestly had the most fun reading this book. The story was so much fun, and I love a good found family trope. This was also such a fun alien/human romance, that did not take itself too seriously and kept me glued to the page. The exploration of the themes of loneliness, being misunderstood, and learning one's worth was surprisingly well explored.

This book bored me to death. Especially the constant flashbacks to their group chat and all the emoji use. At first it was nice to see how their relationship developed but it just kept going and didn't really add to the story at all. The FMC was stuck in a high-school mindset and was immature and insecure.
