I really enjoyed the cozy vibes and neurodivergent friend group in this book. Jen was bold in some ways, like initially starting the group chat, but also had insecurities about her special interests and her ability to make “real” friends. Seeker was sweet and sad, living with the consequences of being stranded planet side after his last thrill seeking experience. He and Jen were able to lift each other up. I enjoyed the gray ace rep as well. The friend group was precious.

While this was a sweet and easy alien romance, it doesn't meet my expectations after the author's Strange Love book. I wish this one had been as humorous and exciting. This one is more slice of life feeling. Not much plot or spice (one scene with exploration of her and then vague final scene). More introspective.

Oh boy. So I wanted to like this, and I want to like this authors books, but they always have a half baked “that’s it?” quality that keeps popping up. By the end I’m always yadda yadda yadda-ing because I’m waiting for the actual plot to happen. I can only read so much of the same “will I do this or this?” without any tension! And sure, maybe it’s meant to be cozy, but that doesn’t mean it can’t have stuff happening.

Also, a personal thing, but I despise reading texting or group chats in a book. Like, viscerally. I am fully aware that maybe this book isn’t what I’m looking for, but I did enjoy parts of it. That being said, I wish there were more parts I liked!

Also, 377 pages and not a single alien cock was spotted 😭

The pacing wasn’t doing it for me, and I think starting us off after the main couple is already really I to each other took away too much impact. If we had started with them as friends and then moved into maybe more sure, but this felt like we were picking up their relationship 50% of the way into a book.

More cozy than her other alien romance books! Most focuses around found family themes. I enjoyed the ace representation and clearly neurodivergent MCs.
