One of those ideas that's just crazy enough to work, Quirk Productions mash-up of Jane Austen's classic and zombie mayhem is a hit for those who love classic romance and a little blood and gore. I was really impressed with the way Grahame-Smith worked with the original text and managed to slip in a story about the dreadful zombie plague decimating England. Even better are the illustrations scattered throughout clearly depicting the slaughter of undead. The additions do clearly update the story, with the Bennet sisters serving as Shaolin trained zombie assassins for the King, and the zombies do add a bit of camp to the story, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to squee a little over the original Pride and Prejudice, and cheering for the zombie killing makes the squeeing okay. As long as you aren't too stuffy about your Austen, this one is a ton of fun.
Stay tuned for Quirk's next literary production, Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, due out this fall.

Not as hilarious as I'd hoped, though it is rather funny in its mere ridiculousness. I do look forward to seeing the movie; I think it will be much funnier than the book. They really don't change much of the writing except to include zombies and the Bennets' training with Shaolin monks. :) All reading this book does is make me want to re-read the original.
I love Pride and Prejudice and I loved the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies movie and was really looking forward to reading this book, but was sadly disappointed. I couldn't even finish it, I really tried and made it over half way, but just couldn't go any further. I liked that the author kept the story very similar to the original + zombies, but the dialogue and the added "zombie" parts just altered the story too much and I couldn't take it anymore.
I must say... I love pride and prejudice, but I do not like the book :( the movie trailer looks so much better!

A very silly, goofy book. I really enjoyed reading a zombie novel where the zombie apocalypse is portrayed as a minor inconvenience that just lets the characters have a bit of fun killing every once in a while. Truly all period pieces should have zombies.
I cannot understand Old English for the life of me. I tried my best
"It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains."
Nope. Nah. Uh-uh. No.

I love Pride and Prejudice, it's one of my favorite books. This one, however...it was so much more boring than the original. I can't pinpoint what, but the combination of mundane life and zombies just doesn't work together, and it took forever to get even a few pages in.
