This is my first YA romance book since I was a teenager. I’m so surprised how much I enjoyed it and it made me miss my teens☺️
I picked this book basically on the cover because it's a really beautiful cover. I'd give it about 2.5 stars. The twist in the book was something I only figured out about 5 minutes before it actually happened so I'll give the book that. Part of it reminded me of the beginning of The Lookout. Marley felt very twee in her cuteness and Kyle was kind of one note. It's a super YA book complete with some magical/supernatural elements. I was close to hating the ending but it turned out for the better.

umm, based off reviews i was expecting more and was left feeling unsatisfied. maybe i read a different book but the love between kyle & marley was no where to be found. he met her one day and then it seemed like they were giving each other love eyes.
kyle was selfish and so were his friends, sam and kim.

Because the plot is boring and slow.

the story line, the relationship, the friendship. everything about this book made me through out, sad, happy, joy, & even anger 😂.
i love this book that i’m going to have to get my own copy.
i wanted to live in this story.
the dreams, the love even before & after. i love how just now realizing what was happening his relationship before, he just let that part of him go. & do the things he love to do & he also felt that feelings towards Marley that he let it out & they are in love. I WANT THAT😭😭.
then fact that after waking up (even after some time), he finally knew why he was feeling the way before, he didn’t want his first love to be gone. tho she won’t be gone.
this book will be in my soul for life.

This is only a good book if you go into it believing it's fantasy.

I read the other book by these authors, which has become sort of a well known book, Five Feet Apart. I had seen the movie first, discovered it was a book, picked up the book, and fell in love with the story even more.
So when I found out about this book, I jumped at snagging a copy. Well after months of it sitting there taunting me, I finally picked it up. And I LOVED IT!
Though I can’t say this beat Five Feet Apart, this was another 5 star read. However, if I’m honest it was not looking like one in the first half of the book.
Just like in Five Feet Apart, this is relatively quick and easy to read. I actually read this within a day. I was solely consumed and didn’t want to stop reading it. It was a fluffy romance and exactly what I needed when I picked it up. However, the entire first half felt too… Perfect.
Our main character went through this life-changing, soul-crushing experience. But the details we see in the aftermath as he pulls himself back together just felt too easy. Too simple. Too convenient. I figured this was going to be an unmemorable romance.
Then it was like a rug was pulled out from under me. Slapped in the face, whatever you want to call it. There was a twist that made me go, “wait… what the fuck?” I started questioning everything I just read. I was completely thrown off balance. And I loved it.
This quickly went from an unmemorable read to a great fucking-tastic read in less than a page.
I’m still reeling from it! There’s actually one book in particular that came to mind immediately after seeing that twist, but I don’t want to say it and risk spoiling the twist.
All I can say, is if you enjoy young adult contemporary romances that involve a traumatic experience, then this is a must-read!
---- SPOILER ----
Now if you must know the book that came to mind and don’t mind the spoiler here it is…
Last chance to stop reading!!
The twist in the book and the details around it gave me vibes of If I Stay by Gayle Forman. Just the idea of what people experience during a coma, it was so captivating. Once this came up, I was literally going through such a mind fuck.
As I said earlier, everything felt way too simple and easy. I just felt like we were missing details. But those thoughts were warranted and explained after this reveal was made.
