Yaa Gyasi is a master of understanding internal character growth and change. While it feels like nothing happens in the book, you actually get to ride shotgun as a characters reveals EVERYTHING about themselves. Gyasi’s word choice is always impeccable and leaves me with a highlighter that is fully out of ink. If you loved Homegoing, this is the perfect next read.
