Impulse buy, largely based off the Kanagawa cover. On reflection, the cover image is apt - the wave’s crest appears adorned with tiny claws. I wonder if my Dad has ever read this. I know he has felt the lure of the sea his whole life.

Certainly an interesting read. A window into middle 20th century Japan. A window into late childhood - that, in many ways frighteningly accurate! And throughout interlaced with beautiful imagery.

This is probably the best representation of that childish rage against adults (in general) that I’ve read. Mishima has reminded me that I felt that same rage at/hatred of/frustration with adults. Perhaps part of becoming an adult is learning to live with others. I suppose, over time, one’s own self-evident fallibility makes it hard to be too harsh a judge of others.
