I just finished a wonderful class over Zoom covering this play. It gave me a much greater understanding of the play.

Probably the most interesting Shakespeare play I've read so far (though not the most enjoyable). King Henry V is a complex character that is both extremely cruel and manipulative, but somehow also very charming and likeable.

For not knowing anything about Henry V, I really really enjoyed this play. Henry was and interesting character whose maturity level was fun to analyze. And in the end it was just very encouraging and inspiring. Especially with Henry's speech in act 4.

This wasn't my favorite Shakespeare tragedy, it was a bit slow for me, and I think I just didn't connect with the context of the story. It was about as dense as to be expected, and the language was beautiful, but the pace of the story was off, and the action was infrequent and dull.

I would only recommend to the most devoted of Shakespeare fans.

3.5 stars. Not my favourite Shakespeare, would see it performed but probably won't read it again

J'ai eu du mal honnêtement à finir cette pièce, peut-être que mon bagage historique n'était pas assez complet pour lire ça. Néanmoins ça reste intéressant pour connaitre un peu mieux la Guerre de Cent ans.

"once more unto the breach, my friends" is such an insane line!!!! the rest of the play is decent (occasionally mid) but Henry's war speeches are excellent

This is a play in which Shakespeare enjoys massively glorifying war, and making heroes out of those who die. The number of speeches done by Henry V in this we're basically shoving it in your face. I liked it enough to keep wanting to read but nothing really happened apart from showing how much fun Henry had at slaughtering the French.
