I really enjoy a good family drama. So good. Several of the characters are police officers, which I also often find fascinating. The people were likable and I found myself rooting for them. I felt emotionally attached to the story and my eyes prickled several times. No spoilers, I felt invested in this story and the outcome. Several times I had to slow myself down because I was anxious about what was happening I was rushing to read rather than savor. (The struggle is real...slow down....)

Meh....this book started strong, but finished weak. I really wanted to like it because of all the high ratings, but I never really strongly connected with the characters. By the middle of the book, it drastically slowed and I don't even know why I finished it other than just to finish what I started.

This book covers a wide range of life - love, tragedy, friendships, addiction, mental illness, forgiveness. It is one of those that draws you in where you feel invested in the people and their lives.
