I went into this with absolutely no knowledge and ended up with a gothic romance? I mean, heck yes.

The historical setting is barely there, it reads like a contemporary. The main characters are cute together, the book has a charming cast of side characters, at least in the first half. The second half completely goes off the rails, instead of gothic vibes we get cheesy dialogues and reunion with a ghost, but the romance is enough, I guess....

I read a romance novel! With ghosts!
After a spate of dark books, I really needed something lighter, but I didn’t want to give up my Fall reading vibes. I found this suggestion on the wonderful @whatshouldireadnext website, from a link in the newsletter I believe.

This was so fun and interesting and different. The banter was A+, there were characters you loved to love and characters you loved to hate, and the pacing and development were extremely well-executed. But mainly it was just fun and warm.
