funny fast-paced

I really wanted to love this book. It did have good parts but I expected it to be more humorous. The author does do well at telling about her new life in the USA and is very generous with her praise of this country and it's people (even when the people were ignorant).

I really liked this one. It was funny and gave good insights into being an immigrant. It was also clean! I would recommend it to probably anyone. I look forward to the sequel.

I had zero preconceived notions about this book. Honestly I have no idea why I own this book. It was in a box of books I owned while in college (2009-2014ish). Opened the box a few months ago and it sat on my bookshelf until now.

Most memoirs I’ve read, especially those with immigrant or not white stories, are somewhat dark. While this had moments that you would expect it was also just funny and endearing. I fell in love with the authors family and at some points just wanted to go to any of their family celebrations. When people in the U. s. think of any country in the middle east they think of terrorism and extremists. This book will give you a different view of the actual people. It will also give you a little history, a little wisdom and a lot of laughs.

Highly recommend.
