"Call me whatever you want, Vi. Call me your lover, the man you want to forget, the man you pretend you don't wait at windows for. Just don't ever call me your fucking friend. We both know it's a lie. We're more, so much more."

Against All Odds by Corinne Michaels has to be my favorite of the Ember Falls series so far! It delivered on all the feels! 🥹

From the first chapter, I was locked in! After being blindsided by her famous husband, Violet returns to her small hometown, desperate to get away from him and the media frenzy. Loving again wasn’t on her mind, but Everett was her first love, and he’s still just as beautiful inside and out, making it impossible to stay away.

The emotional tension IS REAL!! There’s also an unexpected pregnancy that happens, and my gosh the way that Everett handled it had me SWOONING! This man was the kind of steady and selfless you will drop to your knees for. Just trust me, okay? He just kept showing up again and again for Violet. 😭

"I will always come for you if you need me. I will always show up."

Everett deserves to be on your book boyfriend list. 🙂‍↕️ Also, Analeigh deserves a spot in your besties I’d ride at dawn for!

Rating: 4 out of 5
Format: ALC / Audiobook
Narrators: Andi Arndt and Robert Hatchet

I'm currently pregnant and was not prepared for the sweetness from Everett. He is one of the best book boyfriends (but he doesn't top Miles!!! Please go read Here and Now (book 2 in this series) if you didn't read it yet!).

This book had my favorite tropes which are: Small town romance, second chance, found family, and childhood sweethearts. I'm learning to enjoy the pregnancy trope books and this one is FMC is pregnant, but the baby isn't his! -GASP- So Everett stepping up to be there for Violet was really, really sweet.

Series Summary:
1. All Too Well - 4/5
2. Here and Now - 5/5 (MY FAVORITE!)
3. Against All Odds - 4/5
4. TBD

Thank you Corinne Michaels and team for the ARC and ALC of this title!

The Ember Falls series is quickly becoming a favorite by Corinne Michaels! Ugh, there's just something about a second chance romance that pulls you in and doesn't let you go.

We met Everett in the other books. To watch him come alive again when the girl that got away comes back into his life, is everything!! Violet returns back to Ember Falls after a disastrous end to her marriage. Everett and Violet share so much history!! You can feel all the emotions and heartache.

Both Andi Arndt and Robert Hatchet performances were fantastic!! They brought the characters to life brilliantly and now I need to listen to every audiobook Robert has ever narrated.

Everett never could forget Violet and watching them come together again was beautiful! Their chemistry and attraction is undeniable. They fought through so many obstacles to finally find HEA and it was all worth it in the end.

Against All Odds had all the feels and the small town vibes you'll love! The audiobook was also worth the listen. Don't sit on this series! 10/10 recommend.

Everett & Violet
AUDIO

I am so happy to be back in Ember Falls, and this is the story I needed! There is absolutely nothing better than a well-written second-chance romance. Violet and Everett were childhood sweethearts until Violet left it all behind. Although she never stopped thinking about Everett, Violet moved on and started a life with someone else. Years later, after her broken marriage ends, Violet finds herself back in Ember Falls to start fresh, and face to face with the man her heart never let go.

I adored Violet and Everett. Everett is the best of everything! He is compassionate, thoughtful, and loves hard. Although Violet broke his heart when she left, his love for her never wavered. Violet was hesitant to move forward, but I loved witnessing her grow and find the strength to trust Everett with her heart and believe in love again. Violet and Everett's journey back to each other was beautiful, honest, emotional, and will tug on your heartstrings. I love this series and can't wait for what comes next for the Ember Falls crew.

Narration:
Andi Arndt and Robert Hatchet performed this audiobook in duet, and they truly DELIVERED! I love them as a narrating duo and need more! Andi and Robert were the perfect voices for Violet and Everett, and made these characters come alive for me. This was a top-tier performance, and I felt every single emotion.

I have a weak spot for second chance romances, especially when the main characters were past sweethearts in a small town. Violet and Everett’s romance certainly delivered…my heart melted into a puddle when they reconnected and got their happily ever after. Violet returns to Ember Falls after her life is upended, and Everett is there for her in all the ways, even when finding out she’s expecting a baby with her ex. I shouldn’t choose favorites but oh Everett, sigh—he is the absolute sweetheart and the definition of unconditional love. Another cozy, spicy installment of the Ember Falls series.
I felt like the narrators drew me in, immersed me and the wrapped me one giant hug. The dual narration was so good!  The voices, inflections and pacing of Andi Arendt and Robert Hatchet were perfect for Violet and Everett.
Thanks to the author for the eARC and ALC.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Everett is the type of MMC who says exactly the right thing at exactly the right time. Talk about a swoony character, my goodness! The strength that Violet exudes, even with her uncertainty and vulnerability, is what most of us would hope to have. The two had such a sweet relationship, witty, spicy, and so genuine. It was expertly delivered in the performances of Andi Arndt and Rob Hatchet. These two are such incredible narrators and did a spectacular job bringing Violet and Everett to life!

Violet moved back to Ember Falls after a very public break up from her husband. She just wanted some time to figure her life out, to work, and to be in the place where she felt most comfortable. Violet knew it would bring her close to the one person she left, the one person she never got over. Everett just wanted a cup of coffee. Seeing “the one who got away” was not on his agenda. Now that Violet is back, the feelings always he’s had for her come rushing back to the surface. This time, he’s not letting her go again, no matter what.

What a sweet story that had me grinning and swooning! Everett is a literal dream boyfriend! He says exactly the right thing at the right time, does ALL the little things that add up to the big things, is thoughtful, caring, supportive, and had a dirty mouth on him, plus the ability to back it up in the bedroom 😏. And for Violet who has been love starved for so long to have him back in her life, showing her she deserves all the things that she didn’t feel worthy of before because of her selfish ex-husband, is just so freaking sweet! I really enjoyed the glimpses we got of other characters we know from the rest of the series too!

There is nothing that Andi Arndt and Rob Hatchet can’t do! Individually they are incredibly talented narrators, paired together, they’re next level! Hatchet made the perfect Everett, with his wide range from witticisms to gravelly, dirty talk. I thoroughly enjoyed his performance! And of course Arndt is legendary in her own performances. She did a fantastic job with Violet’s emotional spectrum. I was definitely feeling all the things with that narration! If you haven’t listened to these two ridiculously skilled narrators yet, then this is the audiobook you need to dive into!

A massive thank you to Corinne Michaels and her team for allowing me to read/listen and review this title! I love being part of the crew and having the privilege to continue this series as a reviewer!

🩺“Violet, hear me when I say this, you are absolutely breathtaking. You were the day I saw you when you were fourteen and you still are today. Your husband is a f***ing moron for not spending every waking moment telling you how goddamn lucky he was to be with you. He should’ve counted every star in the sky and thanked each one for having the chance to hold you, love you, touch you. And I can say with all the confidence that he will never forgive himself for letting you go. Never.”
🤰“It’s Violet, and there is nothing I won’t do to make her happy. She’s always been the girl that I’d split myself apart for.”
🩺“This . . . I don’t . . . I don’t want to use you. I don’t want to hurt you.” She has no idea that I’ve only ever been hers. She can’t use me or hurt me. She’s just putting a piece of me back together. “F***ing use me, Violet.”
🤰“That’s it, Vi, feel it. Feel me f***ing you, me touching you. You’re so f***ing beautiful. Grip my c*** and let me feel you c**e for me, baby.”
🩺“Eyes on me, Violet. Don’t look away while I get exactly what I’ve been starved for.”

Corinne did it again! Everett and Violet’s love story stole my heart! I’m a sucker for a second chance and I knew Corinne would just make that love even stronger.

I listened to this in 2 days. Andi Arndt and Robert Hatchet brought this whole story and these characters to so much life! It was a quick easy listen and I literally couldn’t stop because I had to know how it ended. This was also done in duet, which is quickly becoming a fav of mine.

Violet and Everett may be my fav in the Ember Falls series 😏 they were just so perfect together.

I literally hated Violet’s ex-husband, Dylan...I secretly wish Violet would have made him suffer a little more since he made her find out about his infidelity in the public eye instead of privately (Coldplay concert? haha IYKYK)

I want to thank Corinne Michaels for the opportunity to read this via eBook and Audio. Another 5 star Corinne book to add to my shelf ❤️
