An absolute sucker for Hollywood, ESPECIALLY a Hollywood romance. Really fun, quick read about romance that would definitely never happen in real life. But I love every second of it.

A cute and sweet book that’s the perfect beach or poolside read. It seems a little unrealistic to fall so hard for someone after only spending three days with them but as someone who’s been there done that, I understand all of Chani’s anger and heartbreak. I loved the structure of the book and the flashbacks between now and then. I’ll definitely be picking up Susanna’s second book!

TLDR: I felt like this read like fanfiction and I think I'm just too cynical/old for that nowadays lol

decided to read this b/c everything i had on hold on libby was still unavailable and I wanted something to read! (+ I've always thought the cover artwork was super cute lol). in short, this story made me reminisce about wattpad. genuinely, the time frame in which these two characters fall in love with each other is comical and definitely what I would've eaten up as a yearning 14-year-old amid her One Direction fangirl days.

Also, I know this isn't an autobiography by any means, but the writing felt extremely self-congratulatory throughout the book. The interlacing of article excerpts between chapters frequently mentions how Chani's article was so awesome, made her super famous, and absolutely everyone and their mothers have read it and know all about her. Which like... whatever let's say her article in the story truly IS that popular and everyone always talks about it. It still feels weird the amount of times we see praise for Chani's writing which Sussman is ultimately the true author of. It makes our main character Chani not as humble as she tries to portray herself and makes me question the author's intentions as well.

Liked the structure, liked the characters, had fun. A little more serious than some off-the-shelf romcom books, and so the payoff is too.
