In the beginning I was fascinated by this journey and the many landscapes they encountered. By the middle of the book, I was hoping for some further character development as the adventures were getting a bit monotonous for me, but didn’t find that until the end. I would have liked this story better had it developed the characters more throughout. That said, this was a fun plot-driven book and overall I’m glad I read it.

Overall a really good book. But it became boring since more than half of the book is about the various animals and plants that he sees under water. It really got boring because of those elaborate descriptions.

HOLY MOLY! It came out in 1869 and this novel invented "Electric Submarines". Diving suits and compressed oxygen tanks were not even invented when this novel came out!!

Watched the movie today. It deviated from the book a lot and was sometimes more interesting. But I liked the ending in the book, rather than that in the movie.
