This is an amazing collaboration between Phalanx Press authors W.J. Lundy, Brian Parker, Rich Baker, Joseph Hansen, and Allen Gamboa.

The authors take the helm of characters of single, familial, teams, and found allies as they learn of a quickly spreading threat. It's unknown whether a virus or parasite is causing humans to rapidly decline into mindless beings attacking the uninfected.

I love the fact that they share the perspectives of a broad variety of people: gender, age, background, personality, occupations, skills, social status, etc. Don't get too attached, because even the most beloved characters aren't safe.

It offers a rich and unexpected storyline. The pacing is fantastic. At 12 hours, I couldn't listen all in one day - but I squeezed listening in to every spare moment I had. This ends on a cliffhanger in that the time covered is really only the first month of the outbreak. The authors & their characters diverge into a series of individual books that I'm looking forward to. Starting with book 2: Brian Parker's After the Roads.

Narration:
I really enjoyed Andrew B. Wehrlen's narration. As mentioned above he has a huge & diverse cast of characters to work with as well as a wide range of emotions and situations. He delivers a wonderful and consistent performance. I'm thrilled he's narrating the entire series.

CW: Keep in mind that tough topics & situations are explored with stark reality: be aware that vicious attacks, murder, rape, and other brutalities occur.

The time skips passed over some character development making the characters less enjoyable as you weren’t able to follow their growth/changes.
