Uuuuugh... I hate not loving an Emily Henry novel. I just have no feelings about this one. It's like the characters had too many feelings for there to be any room for my own 😂

I heard someone on a podcast say that in this book (at least, I think it was about this book) all the characters really needed therapy but instead just had each other... And I totally agree. There's a difference between revealing some of your flaws/difficult childhood to a new romantic partner versus trauma dumping - and trauma bonding! I feel that Daphne and Miles were doing much more of the latter.

Maybe rebound romances just aren't for me, I don't know, but I had a hard time buying into the setup. What newly single woman grieving an engagement would like, immediately move in with her ex's new partner's ex? And then fall in love with him (in mere weeks) after giving the reader the impression that she thinks he's just a deadbeat pothead? That seems like a stretch and needed more development to be believable.

3 stars because I enjoyed it enough to finish it (and Julia Whelan always makes audibooks listenable just by being the narrator), but meh. I'll still eagerly await the next Emily Henry though!

♡ Fake Dating
♡ Roommates
♡ Unexpected Friends to Lovers

This was honestly such a funny book.  The humor was amazing, I laughed so much.

Daphne moves in with Miles after their significant others break up with them to date each other, childhood friends who just had to break off a wedding and crash two lives apart.  Though without spoiling things, it works out in both Daphne and Miles favor.  So what better way to get back at their trash ex’s than to fake date each other?

Miles and Daphne had such a great dynamic, they were hilarious together, friends before anything else genuinely worked so well.  Both of them learning how to trust people again, healing from heartbreak and their past.

While this did have some more serious moments character history and their childhood traumas coming into play with their lives still.  I thought the character development with this was done really nicely.

For the most part things are lighthearted and a simply funny enjoyable read.

I loved this book I not only, purschaed a HARDCOVER ROMANCE, but also the German edition for my shelf( do i speak or read german? not yet.. but I will just for this bad boi)

This was the perfect summer read for me! It was also my frist intro to Emily Henry 's writing style and I love that it really walks the line of a romacne and lit fic novel.

The daddy issues adn people pleasing rep with anxiety mixed in did send me into a 3am crying fit which I did post only.

Thank you to edelweiss for this ARC copy and I will definitely be buying a finsihed copy!
