I really wanted to like this book, but I never really could. The items on the bucket list were pretty similar to each other and the writing made them all seem repetitive. Same internal monologue for everything. I’m really sorry the writing wasn’t better, but it was boring.

Teared up a the end. Really cool story. A little repetitive at times, but very emotional and exciting. Makes me want to go to New Zealand.

As a nerd and a big Tolkien fan I picked this up out of curiosity.

A bucket list of a dying Tolkien grandchild is very sad but it didn't grab me. Did not finish.

What would you do if you knew you were going to die? What if you couldn't do any of it because of the disease that was going to kill you? This is the situation that Mike Tolkien finds himself in, so he writes out a bucket list of things for his brother to do for him. Grieving the death of his little brother, Royd Tolkien (yes, that Tolkien) takes off to do these tasks his brother set for him. Most of them are terrifying because while Mike loved heights, Royd hates them. It is a beautiful book about the love between brothers and about grabbing life by the horns and running with it. It did get a little repetitive (I'm not sure how many times Royd can express how scared of heights he is) but it was really a great book.
