WHY WAS THE EPILOGUE SO CUTE? That ending had no right being that cute.

Nadine recently became an obituary writer for The Herald, and made a mistake in prematurely publishing an obituary of reclusive Dot Voline. Her long standing journalism school rival, and journalist at the competing Spear, Wesley, attempts to seize the opportunity to rehash an old scandal involving Dot. Much to his chagrin, Nadine has the same idea. When Dot ironically passes away, the two set off to uncover Dot’s truth while combing through her estate - and uncover a fling between them!
I listened to the audiobook version via Audible, and loved the narrators Phillipa Soo and John Cho as the main characters of Nadine and Wes, respectively. I loved the blend of the enemies to lovers & cozy mystery tropes - even if it did extend the plot a bit longer than I had anticipated. That said, it was still an enjoyable listen the author did at building the chemistry between Nadine and Wes, while making me wonder what Dot’s truth was. The author also touched on some topics of racism, sexism, and familial expectations in a way that felt mostly authentic and not a plot device.
I’d recommend this for fans of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo who may enjoy this rom-com, and rom-com lovers may enjoy the venture into cozy mystery territory. I’d recommend! #DropDead
