I always enjoy Lily Chu's works, and this was no exception. They aren't works of Shakespeare but they are works of fun and thoughtfulness. She always crackles uncomfortable family dynamic or cultural disconnects and I think her works are much better for it. Plus...Phillipa Soo and John Cho as narrators?? Can it get any better than that? I think not.

Drop Dead is mainly a mystery with romance in it. The plot has a similar set up to Great Big Beautiful Life and The Most Wonderful Crime of The Year, with competing authors (journalists in this case) working on a story about an author's life. I didn't love the mystery as much as I did in those two books though.
I listened to the audiobook, which had two solid narrators for the dual narration. There wasn't anything particularly wrong with this one, but I just didn't really get pulled into the author's mystery or the romance (which is closed door). It was a decent background listen but there was something I was missing.
