I thought this was going to be medical drama ike a Chrichton novel, but soon it turned into an edge-of-your seat page turner. Now one of my favorite Connelly books.

First. This book was good. Not great, but good. Second, I am a new Connelly fan and absolutely love his books. I read my first Connelly book in January and after this book I only have one more to read (Void Moon). It's been an amazing MC year for me. :) Ok, back to CtD. This was a good story, but a bit much and hard to believe. The main character lacked something I don't know what. :) And the cop in the book was boring. I did really like the quick Bosch reference (artist, not the detective.) And it was crazy that the main character's sister was killed by a serial killer that Harry Bosch killed. The twist at the end was pretty crazy, and I did not see that coming at all.

Wasn’t as good or as intriguing as other Michael Connelly’s books which was a bit disappointing. Nonetheless, still a solid read.

I just didn't get into this character like I did with Harry Bosch. Maybe most people didn't because he doesn't appear in any future Connelly books.

I couldn't finish this one. I couldn't like the story or the character and it became too difficult to continue.

A good read....I enjoyed the audio as always. Henry Pierce has a whole new life — new apartment, new telephone, new telephone number. But the first time he checks his messages, he discovers that someone had the number before him. The messages on his line are for a woman named Lilly, and she is in some kind of serious trouble. Pierce is inexorably drawn into Lilly’s world, and it’s unlike any world he’s ever known. It is a nighttime world of escort services, websites, sex, and secret identities. Pierce tumbles through a hole, abandoning his orderly life in a frantic race to save the life of a woman he has never met.

Pierce’s skills as a computer entrepreneur allow him to trace Lilly’s last days with some precision. But every step into Lilly’s past takes Pierce deeper into a web of inescapable intricacy — and a decision that could cost him everything he owns and holds dear.

Why, Michael Connelly, why!?

This book has such a ridiculous premise that I couldn't get past the first 60 pages. This guy breaks up with his girlfriend where they share a land line phone so the guy needs a new phone number. He gets a cell phone and receives many calls asking for a girl, who he eventually determines is an escort. End of story, case closed, right? WRONG. Let's instead, try to find the girl and what happened to her. Give me strength. Anyone in this scenario would either suck it up and deal with the phone calls or get a new bloody number.

Such a disappointment.
