I just finished this beautiful, powerful book.... and wow! Just wow. As a primary school teacher who's youngest child is currently in year 5, it resonated with me so much. Written in verse, it takes us through Nate's final year of primary, where his best friend has gone to a new class, and Nate takes care of his two younger brothers while Mum is still planning on winning at the bingo. A superb book about finding your voice and your people. I'll be sharing this one with my youngest when he's ready to make that big jump.

A heart breaking beautiful book about family and the bond between brothers, the difficulties of life at all stages and finding your people in the darkest moments. Finding hope where you thought there was none, using creativity as a way to see the world and an outlet when things become too much. Remember, every little thing is gonna be alright.

I work in year 6 at a school and the class teacher has this as recommended reading for her class. I borrowed a copy. I can see why. It is fantastic, so relatable for 10/11 year old kids and so heartbreaking.
