I'm blown away by this. We had Matt Goodfellow in our school a year or two ago to discuss writing from the heart, and this book so perfectly captures that. It is spilling over with heart and love.

We all know by now that I love a free verse, so when I spotted this one I immediately ordered it and even read it within a week of getting it.
Nate is just moving into his final year of primary school, he has a lot to deal with at home, basically helping to care for his 2 younger brothers. Him and his best friend PS has been friends for years, but what happens when they get split up for classes?
This brought back all the memories I had of being in the last year of school, the start of exam pressure, the losing and gaining of friends.
The poetry is sparse, but hardhitting, the illustrations add layers to the words so beautifully. Nate as a character, I just wanted to be able to give him a big hug.
A powerful read delving into grief, anger, exam pressure, home pressures, illness and friendship.
