I'm at the point in reading Icelandic books where I have trouble discerning what is sincere and what is parody (and what, of course, is in between, especially moment to moment). I do always appreciate the mix of realism with folklore, which the author does really well here.

A very interesting little book, I read it in about a day and I enjoyed it.
It reads and feels like a fairytale or a myth, blurring the line between every day life and the magical. The writing is very beautiful and it is the kind of book you spend time thinking about.

Lovely little book that I probably should have read more slowly. This is a story to be savoured and I think it would have received a higher rating if I hadn't rushed.

The good:
The cover was extremely adorable. That was actually the main reason that convinced me to pick this one up.

The bad:
Everything else. The story was weird and confusing. I should stop picking books that have little to no story, but are meant to be beautifully written

Getting a head start on some required reading for next quarter.
Dry and dull as usual. How I've put up with these pretentious English classes for four years, I will never know.

(Side note: That cover is gorgeous!)
