I really wanted to like this. The title was fun, the concept was relatable, but the execution just wasn’t there for me. Maybe it’s because I don’t care for graphic novels, maybe because I didn’t find it as funny as I’d hoped, maybe I just wasn’t in the mood.

Cool graphics, interesting bookish comics, but no cohesive story here. Also I don't love the repeated use of library fines as a joke just because so many libraries have done away with them. There's also a spread that pokes fun at the "no unattended children in the library", which was a cool concept, but the practicality behind this rule IRL is kind of a sad one -- that people leave their children in the library as a quasi-baby sitter. So I guess I liked the idea behind this book, but some of the literary references felt kind of old-white guyish. There was also a poke at romance novels. So maybe actually I wasn't a huge fan of this book after all!

Love the title and the drawings are cute but this is aimed quite specifically at readers who want to be writers and not every reader wants to be a writer 🤷🏻‍♀️ not quite as good as some of the similar graphic novels I’ve read

I enjoyed the art a lot, but the comics themselves were a bit repetitive and forgettable. This was also way more about being a writer than a reader, so the description felt misleading. I probably wouldn't have picked this up if I had known it was mostly about writing as I did not find that element particularly relatable.

funny lighthearted relaxing fast-paced

Some cute stuff in here; it's more writer-focused than reader-focused which doesn't really apply to me, but I appreciate the fun illustrations. A quick easy read!
