This was a fun way to spend an hour. I read it cover to cover in a single setting. In hindsight, I might have enjoyed it more if I had picked it up and put it down over a series of days - just to let it breath a bit. The cartoons are arranged around a list of bookish confessions that start the book. My favorite cartoons were the one pagers like The Story Coaster, The Writer’s Block, and The Book Fair, with all the bookish art and labeling in a single frame. So much to see! I also really liked A Reader’s Blessing. Overall, very cute cartoons where any reader, or writer, will 100% be able to relate. Oh, and I totally learned something new in the “adventures of the ampersand.” I have to add that one to my list of favorites, too.

The art style for the comics in I Will Judge You by Your Bookshelf is cute and simple, which adds to its charm. Some of the comics are highly relatable; others are less so. Unfortunately, with the exception of a couple of pages, I feel like they're fairly forgettable comics that won't have much of a lasting impression on readers.
