I borrowed this book electronically through the library without being able to thumb through it first. I feel like I was mislead by the title. The illustrations are cute, but I found the flow of the book to be a little strange. It also seems to be half about the author having writer’s block and feeling insecure in their writing ability, rather than about books themselves.

Oh, the mediocrity.

I liked the beginning couple of sections. After that, I felt this book was maybe better suited for someone who writes for work, as a profession/calling, and/or for their own enjoyment.

The title caught me and then when I got the book so did the cover. I found it funny, clever, and a little cliche with subtle twists. I thought it was too long at first and then I was okay with the length. I thought the organization odd but also enjoyed the chaos. If you are a reader you might find this annoying, nostalgic, and a little like pandering. If you are a writer you'll enjoy the break from your writer's block and may be inspired to write something. If you are a librarian you might just love it.

I appreciated the art and the word mix. I did think some of the fonts were a bit small and scrunchy. Other than that I really enjoyed it.

Cartoons for and about reading lovers and writers. Much truth inhabits these charming illustrations.
