I didn't read this the right way, which would be drawn out over a long time by individual pages or small chunks. Instead, I raced through it to finish it in time for a book club. Reading it so quickly made it feel rather tedious, especially right after quickly finishing Debbie Tung's Book Love. This was longer than Book Love and the format was more monotonous, plus almost all the books he referenced were written by old or dead white men, which is tired and makes me feel tired too. He goes more into what it is like to be a writer in addition to a reader, whereas Book Love was all about being a reader, so YMMV depending on your experiences with reading and writing. I think this would make a lovely coffee table book for someone to slowly work their way through at their leisure, but I wouldn't go out of your way to pick it up, and I definitely wouldn't rush through it.
