Found some parts to be slightly racist and misogynistic (this book was published in 1982.) Interesting plot overall, though.

The suspense built up beautifully, only to come crashing down as Crighton dug himself a hole. The way it ended was terrible. Beyond terrible. I felt totally cheated.

This is not as original as for example Jurassic park, seeing as how the description of the spaceship is almost exactly the same as in Arthur C. Clarke's Rendezvous with Rama. From the interesting discovery part the book gets annoyingly predictable and the plot is sub par. I did like some things so it gets two stars.
