A fun and easy read - what’s better than lesbians kicking supernatural ass? The ending did feel a little rushed to me though. Also, it may be because I had just finished watching Supernatural for the first time, but there were quite a few parts that felt a little like SPN fanfiction, not that I hated it, simply an observation.

I really enjoyed my time reading this book, right up until the twist at the end. Spoilers from here,

I don't understand Helen's mentality in her final decision. Our hero accomplishing what she set out to do, then immediately taking back all of that work didn't feel rational or even reasonable in a world where it is confirmed and known that heaven exists. She gave her soul right back for 10 more years with Edith, when in comparison to the eternity of heaven together, really feels like a drop in the ocean. One may argue she did it for her brother too, but I'm not sure that decision, choosing eternity suffering with him over eternity in Heaven with Edith, makes any sense either based on the entire story before it.

Not what I expected at all. Will definitely be looking into more stories from this author!

A fun, quick read.

Felt a little bit rushed, and I'm a bit unsatisfied with the ending. I understood why it happened but really all of Helen's hard work gone just like that. Overall though it was a good read. I wish it was longer.

What a fun novella! The length of this work was perfect- I didn’t feel like anything was too rushed or drawn out, it was definitely best suited to a novella rather than a full-length novel or short story. I’m not usually someone who enjoys fiction audiobooks, but January LaVoy’s narration was fantastic and really set the tone of the book for me. I could have handled a little bit more depth to both Edith’s and Ted’s characters, but the overall plot was engaging and interesting. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a quick sapphic fantasy noir.
