4 stars. This way too short. I wanted more. This was such a fun read and I loved it. The writing was superb. This was my first book by this author but definitely will not be my last. The world building and the setting of the 1940s were cool and the plot was the perfect balance of noir, action, paranormal and a sprinkle of romance. Helen was a great character and I loved how smart and devoted she was. This was a damn good novella but it left me wanting more.

Do you ever have a book that combines all the elements you love so perfectly, it feels as if it was written just for you? Yeah.

Everything about this book is wonderful. The writing style really evokes that Noir vibe, the characters are interesting and the mystery - while not being super duper original - still manages to pull of some intriguing twists.

Absolutely love it. Will definitely come back to this book some day.
