I'd been wanting to read C.L. Polk's books for years now and finally after reading Even Though I Knew the End I can confidently say that I get the hype. This was such a wonderfully haunting read. The magic felt so tangible, the love so heartwarming, and the hurt so real. An absolutely phenomenal read.

Bless this gorgeous little sapphic historical romance with a fantasy twist! Although big TW for just casually referring to a mental health institution as a “nut house” even if it was set in the 1940s I nearly DNF’d for that. 🙃🙃 but back to the rest of the book that was good! Getting into audiobooks and fantasy/sci-fi/urban fantasy is all new for me so when I find one I enjoy it’s really exciting to me still! The love held by Helen in this book is so big and endless and beautiful. I loved the background setting of 1940s Chicago with its fantasy twist. I want to meet Eden so badly. What a woman! If you knew the ending for yourself, what would you want to achieve? Who would you sacrifice everything for?
