Lightning fast read! I can't believe I read it this fast, and that was with netflix binge as well as other household/motherhood duties. That being said it was a fun, albeit not nearly as funny as promised, read. I liked that the drama was not necessarily her fault - more of a misunderstanding on the romantic interest's part. And she seemed to be at least proud of who she was. I hate when they do these rom-coms and make the MC hate herself.

‘Meet Clara Andrews’ is a series of ?9 books, in the humorous chick-lit genre. I enjoyed this first book as it was a super easy read for when it’s late at night and I’m tired, but need a book to wind down with. It was nothing special, and personally I did not find it that funny given that it was marketed as a humorous read, but it passed some time and was non-offensive.

A short novella, this story focused on a young fashion designer who falls for a rich, established fashion designer as they start working together.

However, we see very little to no fashion in the book at all, besides the main character choosing an outfit to wear every day. Instead, the book focuses on what has been eaten (large quantities of junky takeout food), what has been drunk (even larger quantities of alcoholic beverages), and how rich and handsome the American fashion designer is.

If the incessant whining about, "Oh, I ate and drank too much today. I never want to feel this gross again," followed by another day (and another, and another) of the same eating/drinking habits didn't turn me off, the "romance" definitely did.

Besides eating and drinking, the couple of interest did virtually nothing else together. Sure, they were supposedly designing a line of...shoes, I think? But as we never got to see any of that, the relationship felt incredibly superficial and shallow. I did not care if they made it or not, because the book made them out to be dinner partners who thought the other attractive. There were no conversations, no getting to know the other person.

Ugh. If it hadn't been a novella, I would not have finished. I'm so glad it was a free Kindle book. I'd have hated to waste my money on it. It came in a bundle with novella #2, which I will be avoiding!

This is the first book I have read by Lacey London and it was brilliant. Was unable to put it down and cannot wait to read the rest of the series.
