slow-paced

I’m glad this book exists for history, but I wasn’t ready for another COVID era rehashing. There was also enough o lap with some of the other books in the series that I was bored at times.

This book made me feel hopeful about life and everything to come and at the same time I felt like I had already lived my life. That feeling was a good feeling though and it also made me hopeful of everything to come as I’ve already lived it (if that makes sense). It’s like I already know that everything will be alright

Adoro la Strout, adoro tutti i suoi personaggi, il mondo che ha saputo creare intorno a loro, concatenandoli pian piano libro dopo libro.

There is something so poignant about Elizabeth Strout's writing, it just gets me in the heart every time. This one really took me back to the pandemic era and the strangeness of it all. That feeling of everything just falling away and the impermanence of people and things. Lucy's reflections on her relationships with her daughters, on her childhood and family, and loved ones she lost ... all of it resonated with me and like all of Strout's writing, it feels so comforting, like coming home. 4.5 stars rounded up.

Before I read this, I didn't realize that it was going to be a book about the Covid pandemic. Elizabeth Strout did a good job of revisiting the days of high anxiety, masking, social-distancing, and racing to find a vaccine; however, having lived through that I feel as if I have had enough of that topic. I want to read something that DOESN'T revolve around that recent history of unsettled times.

Made it thru almost 6 hrs.
Then this morning I thought: Why am I still sitting through this?! This woman (Lucy) is insufferable!

A little less than 2.5 hrs to go & I just can’t subject myself to any more.
