Spoooooky stuff! Definitely recommend reading this with some low strings playing the background, and reading it in one sitting seems to be the best way to go about it.

A truly fantastic story. It's short and gripping, so it won't take you long to read. It is not a scary story, per se, but (as H.P. Lovecraft called it) a weird story. It is best read late at night when you are all by yourself. And the wind is blowing.

I kind of think maybe I just didn't "get" this one. Creepy, yes, but not really scary. More of a thriller. Pacing was very slow and creepy plants just didn't really evoke much of a sense of horror from me.

Compared to The Wendigo I liked Wendigo more. This was a slow burn that didn't really come to a satisfying conclusion. It's an old story, it's short, and it's available for free so it's worth a read. It's just not something I'd revisit or highly recommend.

This is a great suspenseful tale. Blackwood masterfully builds the suspense little by little not giving away to much about the entities which inhabit the sand island our two characters have been forced to land on. This is an example of great writing and I can understand why H.P. Lovecraft considered it the best weird tale ever told.

An effectively eerie weird tale. Blackwood creates an unforgettable setting.
