Not for me! The side characters are given stereotypical characteristics for what feels like diversity’s sake. The perspective is shallow and the world is confusing. Maybe these problems I’m having are solved further into the book, but I’m not willing to find out tbh!

Audiobook Narration- most excellent I would happily listen again- 5 Stars
What a fun ride this book was. The narrator was fantastic, she made every moment feel, each voice was unique. The story was intense, I did not want it to end.
Fortuna Sworn is the last of her kind. She was help active for 2 year till a male fairy helped her escape. Now she searches for her brother unseen for those 2 years. She takes a deal with her fairy savior that is the only way she might be able to find her brother. Oh the places she’ll go and the dangers she’ll know… Courts, royalty, bath’s and…
So many questions, I don’t know where to start. Is this a love triangle ? Or a child’s fantasy ? He isn’t what he shows the court, this memory isn’t completely fake ?
I ordered the next book right after I finished the last page. Get the audio if you can it’s very well done

The writing of this book reminded me of something I’d find on wattpad in 2015. No thx.
Also, the sex scenes (the one I read, anyway) felt too sudden and was completely unnecessary. It also wasn’t at all what I expected, but that’s on me for not reading content warnings, I guess.

Fortuna Sworn

Review:
dnf'ed 126 pages in, thought this would get me back into fantasy but I guess it was not the right book.

So, these are my reading notes while struggling through this book...

- The word mate is not on a good side in my mind due to miss gurl Sarah J Maas, and the fact that he called her that not even 50 pages in??? My mind is so confused-

- I don't care for dirty scenes in the beginning of a book because I literally don't know the characters. It's just so uninteresting. So, WHERE'S THE SLOW-BURN???

- Bored bored bored bored bored bored bored bored bored bored bored bored bored bored bored bored bored bored bored bored bored-

- I think I put too much pressure onto this book to get me back into what I usually loved to read, though I’ll probably give the book a second try...(maybe).

This book did a number on me. I don't think there was one moment in this first book in which I felt good. There were numerous triggers, the turn of events constantly made me feel negative emotions, and I feel that the ending was the only time that I felt I was able to come up gasping for air. If this is what the author intended, then Sutton did an amazing job, but I debated not finishing this book because it put me into such a depressive state. The ending pulled me in enough that I might consider moving to the next book in Sutton's series, but I need a break...
