This was a nice collection of speeches, although they were either short speeches or only snippets from longer speeches, which disappointed me. I wanted to read the full speeches!

The editor of this collection did make a clear point in the intro of how they had tried to make the collection one that uplifted as many voices as possible, but knowing it wasn’t where it could and should be and that would be something they would work on in a future volume. Personally I found a lot of the speeches very America-centric which was a bit disappointing, and there weren’t as many voices from non-Western countries as there perhaps could have been.

That said, this book would be a good introductory text for anyone who wanted to start expanding their knowledge but would be overwhelmed by lots of long form text, so I can see how it would be useful. But for me, I wanted it to go a little bit further.
